The parish pilgrimage (outing!!!) this year was to Canterbury. Janice organised us onto the bus and off we went for a wonderful day in this historic city. We began the day with a Eucharist led by Jenny in the crypt of the Cathedral. Then for some it was a guided tour of the Cathedral, while others took the chance for an early lunch and some retail therapy! Here’s a picture of us in the crypt at Canterbury Cathedral after the Eucharist.
We had a lovely harvest festival service on Sunday 29th September
We would like to thank the congregation for all you donations to the Food Bank at New Addington
After the service some members of the congregation joined us for Harvest Lunch in the Church Hall.
Thank you to the team of helpers for all your hard work making a lovely lunch.
On advent Sunday 1st December in the dead of night
St Johns helpers were out and about leaving a little treat for the people of Selsdon to wake up to on Monday morning.
The Heavenly Host arrived in Selsdon on Advent Sunday evening, hoping to be spotted and taken home. I hope you were lucky enough to find a hand-knitted Angel and have taken it away with you - to your home or your workplace - a small gift of love from your friends at St John's and a reminder of the big gift of Love that God gives us at Christmas.
Made with love, sent in faith and received with joy!
Thanks to knitters of St Johns who made over 500 angels for the people of Selsdon to enjoy a little bit of giving at Christmas.
We have received amazing feedback from people who collected the angels from different places around Selsdon
